Building Real Treasures
Have you ever wondered what money is all about?
We need money to handle our responsibilities whether it be paying bills, living in a home, and feeding our families. So because there’s a need for money we find it our responsibility to focus on getting more of it.
But let’s consider what God’s word says.
This is the core mission of Heart Treasure scripturally,
Matthew 6:21 says “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
What was Jesus saying here to his followers? He’s speaking here to the crowds and explaining the mysteries of His ways. Ironically God’s ways are not like our ways. He just finished speaking about how to give and how we should give and not seek to be seen and praised. He just finished speaking about praying and how we should pray and not seek to be heard and praised. He just finished speaking about fasting and how we should fast and not seek to be seen and esteemed. But now He focuses on having our needs met.
Storing Treasures in Heaven
He says that when we store up treasures here on earth they will eventually come to ruin whether it’s through natural time or someone directly taking it away, but that the treasures we store in heaven can’t come to ruin.
Not only that but where our treasure is our heart is there.
Just think about that, wherever your treasure is your heart is attached to it. For me that’s a humbling thought. In our generation we seek to have our needs met so much that we’re willing to sacrifice our families for it, our money for it, our time and efforts for gaining more of it. Sometimes even our value and worth is found in what we have and how others esteem us.
God Protects our Treasure
But there’s a freedom here that I don’t want you to miss. When we give our treasures to God He protects our treasure and our heart in a way that is valued forever.
The God of the universe values our earthly gifts and gives it an eternal significance.
Together, we’ll be diving more into changing our perspective to what God says about money and our lives. This journey will be one that is teaching, there will be plenty of time for getting practical solutions to personal finance questions concerning savings, debt repayment, investments, and so on. But ultimately we will challenge each other to seek God and his glory in our finances.
